Need advice about Round Lake or farther north

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow bandsters! I just had my surgery June 19, and my family is considering a move to Round Lake, IL. I would love to hear from someone in this area, or farther north. I need advice on a surgeon to look into for fills and support group if we DO move. Also, any advice on middle and high schools and neighborhoods (buy in the $130K range - rent in the $1K range). The real estate web sites don't seem to have many houses in this price range, so I may be waaay off base for the new area. We own our current house in an older (mid 1960's) suburban subdivision. 1400 sq. ft. 3 bedroom/1.5 bath/1 car garage all-brick ranch. Corner lot. Lots of renovating going on in the neighborhood. We love it here, but hubby may be getting a new job. It won't be much of a raise, and I am a stay home mom, so I really would appreciate any advice, as the cost of living issue could mean he shouldn't accept the new job.:smile2:

Hi,

I live in Round Lake (I moved here about 7-8 months ago). I bought a townhouse in the area for your price range. I don't know about houses since I wanted only a townhouse. Our's is about 1800 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. So if you can't find a house, a townhouse might be a good option. There are a lot of kids in our neighborhood.

I am seeing Dr. Haggerty in Highland Park. A bit of a drive but it was the closest Dr. that didn't make me go through the seminar and other hoops. There are some Doctor's in Gurnee area as well as McHenry County. The doctor I spoke with in McHenry county also had an office in Vernon Hills but they were very rude to me when it came to insurance. They didn't believe that I didn't need a referral and they wouldn't speak with me until I had one. When I am on a PPO plan how am I going to get a referral. Long story short there are plenty of doctors in the area so you should have no trouble finding a doctor.

Hope that helps.:o

Are you still planning on moving to the area?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
