MEN Dropping weight too fast= loose skin?

Recommended Posts

Ok this is one of my concerns that i have, if we loose the weight too fast we will have loose skin. I know i dont want to look like a sharpei.

It might be stupid but this is what i think, if we don't loose the weight that fast will we give ourselves time to natrualy tighten up our skin?

Actually my question is for men, nothing against the ladies!

But whats your experience with loosing 100 + and loose skin?

What about the guys that work out what problems with saggy skin if any do you have:confused:?

Hello. I am certainly no expert and have not yet had the surgery, but I have over 200lbs of weight to lose. From the research I have done and informative videos I have seen about losing 100lbs or more it is a given that you will have loose skin no matter how slow/fast you lose the weight. Once the skin has stretched that far there is not a way for it to disappear alone. The fat cells will shrink, however the skin has been formed and must be surgically removed if desired/necessary. I don't mean to disappoint you... just sharing what I have learned thus far. I know without a doubt that I will have to undergo extensive loose skin removal after reaching my goal weight. I tell myself ... whatever it takes to feel great and life live as it should be lived is what I plan on doing! Best of luck my friend... don't get too discouraged!!!

Jason

This, like most topics, is something that varies person to person. But I can say that one can lose 100+ pounds and not need cosmetic surgery to rid themselves of excess skin - I know - I've done it! :tongue2:

Now I have to admit that I don't have the tight skin of a 20 year old - but that's partly because I'm almost twice as old as a 20 year old....

Personally, I think the keys to good skin tone rest with several things. You need to take care of your skin. Keep it hydrated inside and out. Get plenty of exercise - and also get plenty of rest.

Good luck! Brad

I too am concerned about this.

I've heard that using stuff like Cocoa Butter on your tummy and other parts that could sag will help tighten the skin. I think pregnant women use that so there aren't any stretch marks post-pregnancy.

I also know of Nivea producing a lotion with coq10 that tightens skin.

I don't know if I'll need that, apart from a regular exercise regimen.

Any thoughts?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
