And proud of it.

Thought I would let everyone know, i have joined the losers bench.

6/9/09 was my new birthday, i am down 10 lbs since my pre-op 2 week liquid diet started, and on my way to recovery.

Spent 2 nights in the hospital, laproscopic lap band, and have started my walking. Gas isn't bad yet, taking my meds, doc gave me hydroconone for pain and nexium for antacid, so that I don't develop ulcers.

I make 24oz of Protein Shakes the night before, and sip it all day, I love the GNC banana Creme. I also make my bottle of sugar free hawaiian punch with 1/2 a New Whey. i am for sure if nothing else going to be sure to get all my Protein.

I walk 3 times a day outside not sure exactly the distance, but it takes about 15 minutes depending on how slow I walk. I will make it longer as I get my strength back.

I am determined to make this work. I have been watching discovery health with the boyfriend, and Big Medicine has been on, as well as some other shows with people having the surgery, and he just thinks it is amazing, of course he is like 6'5 and weights 150 soaking wet.

He is very supportive of me, to the extent that he read all my postop papers and if it isn't on there, I can't do it. I mentioned showering today, he said yes, a shower, but make sure no bath, doc says no bath.

He really cares.

Congrats to you! Don't you feel awesome? I was banded on May 20th and am loving my life even more already. You are also really lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive boyfriend because I've read some people on here have had problems with unsupportive spouses. Congrats again and keep up the good work!

Yay for you - you're such a loser! ;-) That's wonderful to have that support from your boyfriend.

Keep up the good work!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
