Eating after a fill

Recommended Posts

My doctor did not make me go liquids or anything special after my first fill. I will have a second on wednesday. Does everyone else have special diet for a day or two or are others allowed to eat regular food also?????:grouphug:

I have had my band almost 3 years and have had 8 fills (I think) My surgeons office does not require any special diet after fills but suggests that we have an 'easy' meal for our first meal after each fill. I usually have Soup or maybe fish, something that I know doesn't cause me any problems. I know that solid, harder Proteins (beef, chicken) can cause issues with me on any given day so I stay away from them the first day or 2 and gradually try them as my fill settles.

Good luck !!

My doc began stressing this more as I got closer and closer to restriction. It started at...."Only liquids for the rest of the day" to "Liquids for two days, then mushies, and see how you do". My first 4 fills did NOTHING for me; I could've gone from the fill to Whataburger and chowed down and it wouldn't have mattered. LOL

After 5 fills and 6cc's later I am finally at the point of some good restriction. Does anybody notice that as the days go by you are able to eat more? The first few days I wasn't hungry but here I am a week later, I can eat more. Is this normal???:ihih:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
