Recommended Posts

Okay I start my liquid diet on June 8 and surgery is on June 22. This morning i got up and had my Protein Shake. liquid in between. I had a 6 inch turkey sandwich for lunch. Doing great no problems, Felt really good...got home about 4:30pm and lost it. I ate a slice of pizza, left over Pasta, 2 slices of bread with butter, 2 packages of 100 calories cookes and a bowl of ravoli with fritios. Now I feel like i am sick. What is wrong with me..I need to get control over myself. Any one else having these binge problems...prior to banding. Does it get better after banding...

I think lots of us ate everything in sight before the preop diet. Don't beat yourself up too much, just try your hardest now and make sure you stick to the preop so you don't jeopardise your surgery.

Sure. It gets better. Just make up your mind to do WHAT THE DOC SAYS pre and for at least 6 weeks post op...set yourself up for success. Tell yourself you can eat it later (because you can).

Oh boy. Well don't waste time beating yourself up for it. what's done is done. Just make sure day 2 goes much smoother. Maybe try and remove all the tempting food out of your house. Good luck!!! You can get through your pre-op diet!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
