Protein will keep you full longer, especially solid Protein like fish and chicken(if chicken doesn't give you problems) Slider foods are things that go right through the band- like ice cream, chocolate, chips(things that are not good for you at all) funny how these things never give us problems. Try to stick to Protein shakes in your next three days of liquids. Get at least 70-80grams a day and you will notice your hunger decrease. Remember, your body can only absorb 30 grams at a time. Good luck with your band journey!

Thank you all very much for your responses!!! I haven't really been eating Breakfast and for lunch I usually have Beans and cheese and then fish or chicken for dinner. I really try hard not to eat anything in between but I'm not going to lie I will sometimes but for the most part it is fruit, cheese, or some type of lunch meat. I hope this fill will give me some restriction.:)

I usually keep deli turkey slices here at work in the fridge to help me with my mid morning and afternoon pangs.

This is contrary to what my Dr told me. I have a Protein Shake in the am that usually lasts an hour or 2. It contains 60+ grams of Protein. I asked if it made any difference if I drink it all in the morning or if I should spread it out, etc. He said it makes no difference at all, you body will sustain the amount of protein intake at any/all times. Interesting how different doctors have different advice; any other input?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
