I was banded 11/08 and to date have lost approx. 25 lbs including the weight loss before the actual surgery. I have to admit I am discouraged, I thought I would have lost more weight by now but alas I have not. I'm going to the gym 3-4 x week and workout for about an hour to an hour in half and my food intake is minimal because cooked food makes me nauseous...anyone else feel that way? I live off of Fiber crackers and Special K Cereal. Any suggestions and or advise is appreciated.:mad2:

You answered your own question, Daisy! "my food intake is minimal because cooked food makes me nauseous...anyone else feel that way? I live off of fiber crackers and Special K cereal." You are probably somewhat malnourished if that's all you eat.

Your body is in starvation mode and is holding onto every precious thing it can. You MUST eat a Protein rich diet to fuel the machine.

How full is your band? Are you too full? If that's not an issue, then perhaps you need to get over your apparent revulsion to cooked food. You need to talk to your doctor or nutritionist about this because you need to make some changes very soon.

Try to eat as healthy as possible and work out a lot. I eat a light fruit yogurt for Breakfast. 4 strawberrys and 6 cheese cubes for lunch. Then I walk to the gym .5 miles and run 2 miles on the treadmil and walk back another .5 miles. I drink a lot of water!! Then I will do two scoops of Protein in 16 oz of skim milk. When I go home from work I will usally eat a grilled chicken breast with some broccoli and maybe some long grain rice if I am really hungry. Then I will do 50 min of circuit training after my stomach has settled. I have lost 131 lbs in 8 months so it must work. Good luck to you I hope this information has helped you.

My neice only eats raw food. She seems to be very healthy and lost a lot of weight. There are a lot of food choices for raw food diets that can keep you from getting malnourished. I definitely agree with Cathy. You have got to get this problem addressed ASAP. That kind of diet will send you to a hospital before long.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
