Hi Delarla, just the thought of exercise makes my toes curl up. But even if I get rejected (Insurance) I have to make some changes. I feel like my fat is going to grow roots into my chair soon. I'm getting lazier and lazier with each passing day. I was hoping that with the band, I would lose some and get some energy but I have to be realistic and plan for being on my own. I'm gonna start an exercise thread here called, September's Verb (its what you do). It doesn't matter what you do, walk, bike, clean the house, dance, etc., just as long as you do something to move your body. And we can all post what we're doing, it might help give others the incentive they need. I suck at exercise so my goal would be to walk 1 mile a day to start, possibley 1/2 mile.

I hope folks join in.

You can make healthy food choices even away from home. Instead of fries with your meal, get a baked tater or side salad. Buy those snack that are packaged in 100 calorie bags. I know for me once I open a big bag of something, it never works out that I will Portion Control it... no way. If you goof up at one meal, be good at the next meal. Don't say, well I blew it for the day so what the heck. Small steps is all it takes to get you going in the right direction. Come on girl, you can do this, even away from home. I know its not fun but........ yadda yadda yadda.

Nothing new here, just counting the days until Sept 16th-my consultation with the surgeon - can't wait!! Took my two dd's to the movies to see Madagascar ~ hmm it was ok, some funny parts, a little too much adult humor for my 7yr old - lots of questions if you know what I mean. Nothing else shaking around here.

Lisa, good to see you.

We saw Madagascar too, it was cute, nothing to write home about lol. We also saw Herbie the Love Bug. I thought that was cute but its a movie for folks that know the old Herbie movies IMHO. Matt Dylan (sp???) and Michael Keaton looked really old in that movie... Yeah I know WE'RE GETTING OLD TOO LOL.

I had my consultation on the 6th and the doc said I should just squeek by with the insurance companies...sigh. So there's that chance they may not approve me :(

I'm trying to keep my Chinny Chin Chins up but its hard. Think Positive, Think Positive LOLOL.

Hope yours goes well :D

Just finishing up a file so I can head for the old Hacienda. The usual. Grinding my teeth until tomorrow when I can call my insurance company (BCBS) and sweetly ask them for the status of review on my pre-approval.

Other than that, just hanging out. So, Obviously the Dreadmill didn't kill you... lol.

I am gonna have to get one of those things. In the winter, you can walk outdoors here - but in the summer it's just a little bit too scorchy for this former Oregonian to stand exercising...

Anything other than walking is pretty much out of the question, at the moment. I, too, am keeping my chins up and thinking happy thoughts about insurance.

:]

Another day where the bathroom scale gets spared a beating or dangled over the garbage can. I'm not sure what's on, I guess my body heard a rumor that I was going to get my first fill next week and it's kicking into gear for the sole purpose of embarrassing me when I get weighed at the doctor's office and he can see that I don't need a fill cause I am still (all of a sudden) loosing weight. I'm not complaining. But I still think I am eating more than I should be. I'm glad my new friend started this open rant thread, I often regret not starting a blog when I first began this adventure. Today was classified as productive because I made an appointment with one of the exercise guys at the gym to set me up with a real program. I have been doing mostly treadmill and recumbant bikes, but I was reminded that my surgeon doesn't really consider that cardio stuff as real weight-loss exercise. So while I am refreshing my memory as to exactly what the heck that means, I will pursue the other equipment and work it in on opposite days from non-weight loosin cardio equipment.

In other facinating Ira-News, my wedding anniversary is coming up and the idea of going to a really nice place for dinner so that I can have 4 bites of something and watch her enjoy a full meal for 45 minutes is making me ill. I guess this is something I will have to get used to. Clearly whatever I order will have to be something that travels well. Such problems...

Good Afternoon :D

Beanie, ITS FRIDAY !!!! No, silly, the dreadmill didn't kill me but we're still not on speaking terms. I will be the first to admit, I HATE exercise, sweating and everything nasty that goes along with it lol. I know once I get some of this flubber off of me it will be easier but for now its really a chore. I'm glad your going to get a dreadmill, they really last a long time. Just make sure when you get it to check out the weight limit. When my DH bought ours I told him to make sure it had a weight limit of 350 lbs. How's work today? did you get to call the insurance company? I also have BCBS (((biting nails))). My doc said that they are very good about approving people for lapband so who knows.

Lisa, my doc said I should just squeek by with the insurance company (BCBS) approving my case. So there's always the possibility that I might get rejected (((story of my life lol))), just add it to my rejection list :(

Ira, GOOD GOING !!! on the trainer/program that you are looking into. Do you feel that you have more evergy now that your skinny? Just tell Dr. B. that you are really struggling with keeping your portions small and I'm sure even with the great weight loss your having, he will give you a fill. Squeeky wheel gets the oil....or is that a Fill :D

Okay you see, the mind is NASTY!!! You can go to dinner and enjoy something for your anniversary. What you have to remember is, your celebrating the day you were married, and not the meal. food should not be the "center" of our lives, we need to "TRAIN THE BRAIN" you can always Celebrate after the dinner with a romantic walk, or some hoochie choochie naaaaah naaaaaaaaaaah !!! GET IT? But if you feel that the dinner will be to hard to handle, skip it !! there's always next year. Why don't you go dancing, or to the movies. What ever you decide "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY"

Happy Day, Ira. Ain't love grand? My DH & I celebrated 16 yrs of wedded bliss last month. I wouldn't trade him for all the gold in the universe.

Congrats on the downward moving scale, Ira. The workouts will only help that along... Just that much more joy.

FRIDAY - my delight, my sanity, my dream come true... Can you tell I am happy about it? Oh Yeah.

Haven't had a chance to get with Blue Cross yet - Fridays are always busy for me - but I will be calling them shortly. I will keep you posted. I am sort of waiting for my coordinator to give me a name or a dept to start with - but if I don't hear from her within the next hour or so, I will just dive in.

Signing off for lunch. Catch you on the flip side.

Ohhh - I flaked! I didn't hear back from my coordinator on who to call - and I didn't have the proper mind-set for wading through the morass of folks at Blue Cross this afternoon. I know I will be in a better frame of mind on Monday.

Thank God this week is over. I am ready for a cocktail and my feet on the ottoman.

I have the best possible plans for the weekend - NONE.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
