BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) versus BodyBugg

Recommended Posts

First let me say, I love my bodybugg.

But for those who don't want the hassle and or expense, I have found that this BMR calculator, is extremely close to what I burn according to my bodybugg.

scale for my feeling of accomplishment anymore. I just add up my calorie defecit and divide by 3500 calories. After a month, I have noted my weight loss to be exactly equal to what it should be for the amount of calories I have used over the amount I consumed.

It has really helped me get past the scale watching, which really isn't as accurate, since your Water weight can change as much or more then the amount of fat you have lost.

BMR Calculator

If you use dailyplate.com and add in any physical activity for the day, you will be very very close. So close it is down right scary.

I in fact don't pay much attention to the scale for my feeling of accomplishment anymore. I just add up my calorie defecit and divide by 3500 calories. After a month, I have noted my weight loss to be exactly equal to what it should be for the amount of calories I have used over the amount I consumed.

Yep, I did the same thing when I was losing. I watched my BMR and BMI go down together. ;o) And, I used TheDailyPlate as well. I still have my weight loss graph and I still record reading here and there when I think of it.

That site works really well, thanks for sharing.

I guess it also goes to show why it gets so hard to lose as you get close to goal. After BMR goes down substantially with weight loss, you would have to cut out a large amount of additional calories just to maintain the initial rate of weight loss.

It also really helps to show how big of an impact exercise makes when it comes to calories burned.

For me it shows how much you have to work out extra, as you go down in weight. I guess this is why people don't just keep losing?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
