Just curious for those of you that have had the lap band whether or not you had an excessive amount of extra skin after losing weight? I already know I will want a Tummy Tuck because I have saggy skin from having children, but I'm afraid it's going to look even worse after I lose the weight I want and need to. How's your skin looking?

What are the complications that go along with it? I have read others say that, but never have said what all their complications are. Just curious.

Hmmmmm, I waver between saying great and horrible!

I've had 3 pregnancies, one of which was a caesarean. I have no overhang at all, I've been incredibly lucky - pregnancy didnt leave me with stretch marks, my caesar didnt destroy my stomach and I never got over a BMI of 36, nor did I have a big stomach when I was fat. So its survived.

However, my stomach still does bother me. Its loose. Its better than so many women's stomachs, I know, but its still not the perfect stomach I would want yet its kind of not bad enough to justify the risks and expenses of a Tummy Tuck. I almost wish it WERE worse just so I'd feel justified in doing something about it. As it is I would feel as if I were misappropriating my family's money for pure vanity.

So, meh, my skin is OK. I still have cellulite and a saggy bum, and my stomach is loose. I will never have the perfect body I desire. But I have problems that can be hidden (and who ever feels GREAT and looks truly GREAT in a swimsuit anyway?).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
