Help please! Somebody remind me why in the hell I did this. If I am going to survive the frickin liquid stage. If one more member of my family says "I'm sorry" every time they eat something...

Good grief don't I sound like a little spoiled baby?!?!

we all have our reasons of having this surgery but Im sure that it was due to your health problems and wanting to lose weight. I know that this was the best decision I made and I dont have any regrets. You can do this I know you can, I know that its tough when ppl are eating around you just leave the room or walk away from them or ask them to leave the area. You can do it.... keep up the good work. Dubbee,

It was hard for me with the liquids. Hang in there. I did the two weeks of preop Protein shakes, one week of liquids, one week of softs and started puree yesterday. I was very "grumpy" when my family had Chinese in front of me. I then just left the room. My husband doesn't get it. I have done things to get my mind off of eating - my garden is looking better than it ever has and my house is becoming very organized. I did have two days where I cried because I was hungry. But now in hindsite - it was emotional hunger, not physical. Each day will be easier, take one day and one Protein shake at a time. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
