Recommended Posts

Hi everybody just got banded on the 21 of April. I was an outpatient. Came home 2hrs after surgery. I've been doing okay. Of course I have pain and soreness which is to be expected. I am not hungry but I try to keep dinking Water and shakes with a 4oz limitation. Today I am more exhausted then yesterday. but this is the whole healing process i must go through.

Hi, I was banded on the 18th April and im starting to feel better, slowly but surely!! Its taking a while tho, and im still very sore and my body is definitely taking a while to adapt to it!! How are you finding the liquid diet? Have you been told when you can start on mushy foods??

Vicky,

Today seems to be a little harder only because of the pain. However, my doctor said I can have anything that can go through a straw ect..protein shackes thin them out if needed. broths, Soups must be blenderized. All fluids are okay. But shakes goes first. My munchy stage start next tuesday. I can have cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes, he even suggested baby food is okay. But because I am 2-postop

I really dont have much of an appitite. I have been walking around since I got banded. Hopes this helps Thanks vicky for your response

Hi There,

I too am newly banded. 23 April. I stayed in overnight though. Do get pain up in your shoulder area?? I have already started to eat mushy food. I have also had some mini mince meatballs. I make sure I chew them down to a pulp before swallowing.

I was banded on April 23. I am back at work, but I thought that I would be feeling better than I do. Everyone is different. I am still taking pain relievers. When i stand up, i feel a burning pulling sensation that subsides in about 3 mins. Walking seems to help everything. Even the gas!!! I ate pudding yesterday, it went down fine. My one concern is my lack of appetite. Should I eat even though I am not hungary at all. I am sipping my liquid vitamins and drinking alot of Water, but I dont want to affect my metabolism negatively.

hi lekekari,

Today was my first day of munchys, to tell you the truth i was scard bc i had Soup and i was hoping i had chewed everything down. Really, this is a learning event all over again. No pain in the shoulder area, but I do have a back dull pain Like in the mid back area. I also get side pain on my left side obviously bc of the band.

Hi dawright1,

I was banded on the 21., I have the left sidepain that comes and go. I understand the lack of appetite bc it has happen to me. I talked with the drs office today this is all normal, she encourage me to start my munchies today even if i did not want to eat. I'm also taking tylenol for pain. We are now taking babystep to a new you. It will get better but I must say sometimes I think why did I ever get into this situation...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
