I had my surgery in Tijuana MX in October of this year with Dr Pedro Kuri. There are good docs and bad docs everywhere and Dr. Kuri is a GREAT doc with ALOT of experience. His team along with the facilities are excellent and I do not hesitate in recommending him. He makes it easy for you to have transportation, lodging, and testing and it's all included with his pricing. You can message me if you have any questions! Good luck on your journey.....by the way if you need more information on him he has a webpage. I believe it's lapbandsurgery.com

I was banded Jan 7, 2010 by Dr Ortiz in Tijuana. Highly recommend him and his staff. Out of the four prior surguries I've had, this one was by far the best. I had very manageable soreness, really not painful at all except the dang gas!

PM me if you have any questions. I wouldn't hesitate to consider surgery in Mexico, many of the doctors there have been doing the surgery longer than the surgeons in the US.

I was banded in Tijuana Mexico on 2/12/2010 by Dr. Carlos Alessandrini. A girlfriend and I went down together, with two other people who were also banded by Dr. Carlos. Everything went perfect. They gave us Aleve for pain medicine, and truth be told, I didn't even reallly need it. I was up and around 4 hours after surgery asking for Water. My surgery was on a Friday and I went back to work on Tuesday without any problems. About 5 days after surgery, my left shoulder became extremely painful, but it has stopped now. I guess this is common. Dr. Carlos didn't fill my band at all, so I went for my first fill today. I can really feel the difference. I am looking forward to losing weight, and do not regret my decision at all.:cursing:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
