Surgery Date Set!!! April 21, 2009

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I am new here, and I have a surgery date set for next Tuesday morning in Phoenix with Dr. Terry Simpson. I am so very excited and know that I have a long road ahead of me, but I feel like I am truly ready for this journey!

I have the support of my husband and mother, and 3 friends (they are all I have told!). I also log in here every day and read posts from all of you.

I will meet with the nutritionist next Monday, and have already copied several recipes from several of you on this site.

Any suggestions or warnings (I tend to be an optimist in denial!) would be appreciated!

Thank you all so much for being here! Soon, I will figure out how to get my little ticker up there and add other info!

Chris

Welcome and congrats on your date.

In case you are interested, there's a forum for all the April bandster's HERE - it's a great place to share experiences with others of us being banded at around the same time. It's also a wonderful place for support.

Also, you've been added to the list of April bandsters HERE.

Congratulations! I hope you have your AC ready to run, or you're going to be terribly uncomfortable when you get home. Supposed to go over 100 today in Phoenix I think. Just a sign of how "hot" you'll be soon!

Hi everyone!!!

I am back home today. The surgery went great, and I am not really in any pain (except the gas pain). I find it helps to lay in a recliner and put my hands over my head...and walk alot as well.

Today I get to take my first walk outside for 10 minutes! Woo hoo!!!!

Thank you all for your support, I look forward to getting to know you on our Journey.

This is still surreal. It was the first day I woke up and the first thought on my mind was NOT how gross I feel. I woke up feeling GREAT!!!

May you all have a blessed day!

Chris

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
