Ok, so I was banded 10/21 and I have had success. I've lost 62 pounds. But over the last few weeks I've just stayed at my current weight. I work out 3-5 days a week. I've even changed up the routine but no change. Anyone else experience this? This must be a plateau but it is sooooooooo frustrating!!

Cheat.

This is something that we did in my Weight Watchers days (pre-banded).

Four of us were going together and we all hit plateaus at the same time. It was suggested that we try cheating once in a while to see what would happen.

So we would do our regular program diet for the whole week then on WWs night we would go weigh in and then go to dinner - usually across the street at Marie Calendars (ever notice how all the WWs are next door or across the street from really good places to eat).

We would order whatever we wanted for dinner and even pie, then the next morning back on program.

We never plateaued again.

Hope this helps,

-BSG

I'm right there with you! Its so frustrating. I thought I was the only one and had failed yet again with dieting...But I think, like the others said its a plateau. This morning I was reading on Calorie Count that once you lose 10-20% of excess weight you plateau. Its just how your body adjusts. The big thing I took from that article was that if you start your calories too low and then plateau well then you are stuck with those low calories b/c that will maintain you.

I know we all had to be low calories for a while but I am back up to 1500 most days, some more some less and I am 1. happier and 2. FINALLY losing again. I cannot go forever on 800-1000 calories and I dont belive its healthy either.

I also have read WW info...someone named Wendy or something like Wendy's WW info...where she had tracked and tracked her calories/eating for years and was always so frustrated when she wouldn't lose even though she was dieting like crazy. In looking back over all her notes she realized that the times when she broke her plateaus were the times she ate the most. Just like someone else said..you got to cheat and eat sometimes to get past it.

I'll see if I cant find that article and post it here.

Good luck and stay positive.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
