Banded Friday, Fine Sat, Sick/foaming Sunday

Recommended Posts

hi

I was banded Friday morning, home friday night. Sat was fine, even took the wife shopping, Sat night i realised i had not had 100 calories all day, so maybe i did too many liquids in too short of a time, got the hiccups.

today i can keep no fluids in. never puke, just hiccup all the time and push out foam. I doubt i kept a half glass of fluids in me all day.

Hiccups start for no reason. ie, they stop for a few hours, then I am sitting around not eating or drinking, and they start up. walked a half mile, did not help.

after dozing a little, it is now midnight and i cannot sleep as i am hiccuping.

ANY ADVICE PLEASE ?

tia

Wow that is yucky. In the first few days after my surgery I did get the hiccups a lot for no apparent reason so I don't think that is out of the norm but the other symptoms are not ones I have read about so close after having surgery.

The only thing I can think of is that you irritated your already tender stomach. If you can't keep Fluid down though you need to been seen asap or you will dehydrate.

I am sorry you are having troubles....get seen and get better!!

Good luck.

I can only answer from my experience.

I did Optifast for 16 days and the Dr said afterwards that my liver looked to be very good. I had 4 to 5 opti's a day (normally 5), and drank a gallon or more of Crystl light and a few cups of coffee a day - and that was fine.

That being said, I have read this board and some poeple's doctors dont seem to require much of a diet, so I guess your doctor knows your setup best.

Good luck on Friday

I had the same issue and even had a trip to the ER for IV fluids.

You need to get the bloat/gas meds your doctor perscribed to you down some how, once that was in my system I was a lot better.

And you really need to walk a lot.

I also would stand in a hot shower and just rock back and forth.

Could not wait until the morn. found 24 hr pharmacy, sucked 3 Gas-x strips. feeling much better already (only been 15 minutes, so let me see how it goes).

many thanks for the advice

Followup: Went back to Dr, he removed 1.2cc of saline, and i felt like a choke-hold had been released. Turns out that I had become inflamed and that caused the issue.

Thanks for the advice team

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
