Good morning VVs!

Taking TerriDoodles' suggestion, I thought I'd start a single thread where we can discuss any/everything. In this way, we won't have multiple threads on different topics, but rather just one long 'stream of consciousness' thread in which we can all jump in and participate. So, to start things off.....

My weekend was hectic - lots of activity as it was DH's birthday and between his daughters and their partners visiting, and baking and calls we were on the go alot. Went 10 pin bowling (haven't done that in decades) and played mingolf - what a hoot. Tonight my brother and his boys are coming over to dinner to Celebrate DHs event, and then calmness will again reign! It has meant 3 birthday cakes for DH - he has lucked out this year!

Rhapsody - how was your shopping trip? Did you get yourself some nice clothes?

Shiny - I may just try that icing recipe tonight; but definitely will keep the recipe. Post a pic of your cake please.

RSG - We haven't heard much about your artwork recently; are you still creating? What about your plans to go back to school - are those going ahead?

Long lost VVs - hope you are doing well; drop a line here and say 'Hi"...Coolcrystal; Ezma; Minx; MediumMike;.....

I start school in June. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm actually doing a lot of sketching lately. I drew something I am going to attempt to turn into a painting. We will see.

This weekend I cleaned. I also rented Bolt. Cute movie.

I'll post pictures of the cake on the Are we through? thread so I don't bog this one down. (Since it will hopefully be ongoing.)

We went to the movie this weekend. We saw Monsters vs. Aliens. We almost never go to the movie, so it was a real treat and it was a great movie. Very funny.

Hopefully the 5 inches of snow we got on Thursday/Friday will melt soon and we'll be on our way to exercising-outside weather.

RSG - I'd love to see some of your artwork - can you post a few pics or a link to some?

As for school, the advantage of going back as a 'mature' student is that you know what you want to do, and know it involves work but you also can appreciate the subject matter. What are you taking?

Shiny - I looked out the window this morning and could have spit - that snow you had came to me! I am SO sick of winter, and was really hoping it was over, but no such luck! Probably another month of intermittent snow, with just enough days above freezing to hint of spring!

Shiny - Oh my goodness - your cakes are gorgeous! You are SO talented!! I can bake, but I sure can't decorate... relatively smooth icing is the best I can do, but certainly not flowers let alone nice writing etc...WOW; just WOW!!!

Hi VV's. Sure I want to be a part of your on going support. I have been here even though I didn't post. I had another fill this morn. Down 7 lbs since last visit so hopefully all is well with me. My second Greatgrandchild is on the way so my life will be busy this summer. Keep posting, keep supporting, thanks. Audrey

Hi Audrey - glad to see you posting! A second GREATgrandchild - wow, everyone must be very excited!

I think it is time for me to have another fill, but they are such a pain to arrange - trip into the city where my clinic is, time off work, etc... but I'm now starting to be hungry all the time, and that's not a good sign!

I'm sick. It hit me on Sunday afternoon and it isn't getting better very fast. It's just a sore throat, aches and some congestion, but I feel pretty miserable. I'm not exercising, obviously. Just trying to get some rest.

I ordered furniture on the internet yesterday. I think I might have an online shopping addiction. It's so easy, and fun.

Shinyhappy- Get well soon.

Audone- Hi glad to have you.

tapshoes- Thank you. I am pretty excited. I only have about a year of crap to go to get a degree, but I'm trying to get my masters in social services...thats gonna take a while.

And five inches of snow! I've been in short sleeves for a month. I can't wait to move somewhere with snow. I love sweaters, and double layering. *sigh*

I will have to scan in my sketches soon. It's hard because our Scanner is having difficulty recognizing my new Dell, but we are working on it.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling a lot better today. I even did my T-tapp and ran 2 miles at the gym. I think I need to do short runs every day instead of trying to do longer runs and making my hip sore.

RSG, I love short sleeve weather, well 3/4 sleeve weather, my upper arms are too flabby for very short sleeves. It's funny how the grass (or the weather) is always greener on the other side.

Tap, good luck with your fill Quest. I hate the quandry of whether or not to get a fill, but I'm always glad once I get one. Of course, I haven't been overfilled yet, so that would certainly be a bummer.

Hi VV's Well I Had the Fill taken out today.Tooooooo tight. How awful. Dr. said that he only put the barest amount in and we wouldn't think about any more for a while. The good news is that my weight loss is steady. The bad news is that it is slow. From 310 to 176 is wonderous to me. Shiny you never want to be overfilled. Love to you all Audrey

RSG - Online shopping is the best kind - no need to go and fight for parking space, or drag bags and boxes around, and have shopping carts pushed into the back of your legs, and stand in lines and so on. Can you tell I hate to shop?

Be careful what you wish for - moving to where there is snow sounds nice...until you have to shovel it, drive in it, slip on ice, etc.....I can't wait to move to someplace without it!!

Glad to hear you are working out an activity schedule that will suit your needs, Shiny. And I can ABSOLUTELY relate to the 3/4 sleeve weather - my upper arms haven't been out (other than in a bathing suit) for years, and are unlikely to now...I've grown some serious wings!

Audrey- that weight loss is wonderous - congratulations! And yes, being tooooo tight is not good - I have had that and that's why Im hesitant to get a small fill now. But on the other hand, I can and have been eating everything recently.

I'm trying to adjust to my new glasses, but it is a challenge - I have to move my head to look down at the keyboard whereas before I could just move my eyes down. But the new prescription and new glasses don't allow for that now - unless I want to be seasick!!!!

I sure like this musing thing. I feel much better today. Tight is no good. It was the first time that happened to me. From reading about others I got it taken care of, thanks. I love that spring is here in TN. I will walk more(I hope). Have a great day my friends. Audrey

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
