Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I am a new member and am very excited since I was FINALLY approved for my surgery!! I am schedule for this Monday, March 30th 2009 and I am both excited and nervous for my new beginning.:w00t:

I am in Houston, Texas and my surgeon is Dr. Felix Spiegel. I have heard only great things about this man and I am positive he will do an awesome job....but still the whole surgery thing is a little hard for me to swallow since it is my first one.:tongue_smilie:

I would like to hear as much feedback as possible from others who have had him as a surgeon, as well as any others that would like to give me an insight to the whole life after the lapband!!! I have read up on the foods you can eat and can't eat...but everyone seems to be different. So please...I welcome any feedback.

Congratulations!!!!:thumbup:I have been banded for 4 1/2 months now and I would not change this for anything. The band is the best tool that I could have given to myself. I feel that my Dr is an Angel for helping people with weight problems and now he is part of my family. You will have many follow-up appointments and since you feel comfertable with your Dr don't hesitate to ask all the questions you have. Good luck Monday and let us know how things are doing:thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
