Anyone Willing to Share?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know there is a sticky on this forum about scars, but I can't see them. Sooo ... I'd like to know how long it took before you could no longer see, or feel your scars? I'm six weeks post op, and can definitely feel them. There is one in particular on the left where there is still a little hardness--maybe it's a keloid? (Not sure if I spelled that right.)

I guess what I'm asking for is if people would be willing to share with me, verbally, your scar stages

Thank you.

Debbie.

I have pictures on my blog. At 6 months, my scars are hardly noticeable, about half or 1/3 the size they used to be. I think they'll be totally gone by 1 year.

I found they got darker before they got lighter though. So don't freak out if that happens to you.

Thank you, MacMadam. I am black, and totally blind, so I won't freak out, and they're nice and smooth because I use cream on them. I just want them to be smaller than they are, or should I say, less feelable! :-)

Hi, I am about 8 weeks from surgery. I have two scars. One is about an inch long and the other is less than a half inch. The larger of the two is on my right where the port is. They were dark purple and now they are light purple. I just noticed yesterday that they are definitely getting lighter. I can feel the scar tissue under my right scar, not so much on the left.

I know you can't see but I think at our stage in healing they feel worse than they look.

Thank you, that's good to know, because I don't like the way that one feels. It worried me a little.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
