Hi all,

I am 3 years post band and have kept off 70 lbs., although I should lose approx. another 70!

Anyway, I have a question.

After banding it was hard to burp, and if I did, it was a real small kind of burp, not like before.

Now, I am having issues with belching. It is becoming more and more frequent and especially when I lie on my left (stomach) side. I have not had this happen before and I am wondering if maybe something is wrong. Has anyone had this same problem?

I am having damn near pathological belching. It really is ridiculous. I belch if I am full or not. I used to belch a lot anytway due to a small hernia. The doctor says he did not fix this when I got my band because it was so small. However, I think my banding just is aggravating the belching part. I am so sick of it. I burp loud and often. Sometimes so hard its like a hiccup burp. It was causing me some pain earlier in the week but now its just plain annoying:cursing:. I got some gas building up in my shoulder now too....nearly 7 days post op....whats up with that:scared2:?

Strangely enough, I'm having a hard time burping and I really need to do so. I miss having the relief of a burp when things are going crazy in my stomach. I've managed to get a few out but for the most part, I feel like I'm never going to get that good just-burped moment.

Oh, the things we tolerate.

I hope it gets resolved and that the source of the problem is identified.

It sound like we have two extreme situations here. I have yet to get a fill but it sounds like you are too tight if you have pain as food goes down. You are certain you are chewing enough? I have read on here that when things like that happen you should switch to liquids for 24 hours to let things settle down after a fill. Are you absolutely sure you don't have or deveoloped a hernia?

Good luck. I on the other hand will be using Excuse Me as my middle name for quite a while. I hope my belching settles down with my first fill.

MargenOhio:

Were you talking to me about being too tight? I just got banded on the same day as you and haven't had anything solid yet.

I just think the lack of belching is due to my recovery more than anything. At least, that's what I'm hoping. :)

No, no. I'm sorry my post regarding a band fill was for Itzgigi. Yes...I know you and are are February 24th bandsters. I think my more than usual belching is from either my small hernia left unrepaired or I am just a natural air swallower. Who knows. My doctor is not too concerned so I have to live with it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
