Squeezing sensation--chest

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

I haven't visited LBT in a while. I am 5 yrs post op & my last yr has been full of problems. Most recently I was unfilled for a stretched esophogus so I shouldve gottenbetter but instead I feel worse. It started last wk when I went running-- I thought I had an air pocket kind of pain that you get when you sprint-- only it didn't go away. Since then I've had a feeling of pressure in my chest and occasionally feel my band pressing against things.I am thinking along the lines of slips dialation or even loose threads where it is sewn. Perhaps its an ulcer or hernia. Has anyone had similar sensations & if so what was your problem? Has anyone recovered from dialation & if so how did you do it & how long did it take? I'm afraid this may be it for my band

I'm going to the ER today but my ins doesn't start till next wk.

I think I have an ulcer/hernia or slip.

Well the trip to the er was a big waste--they took a ct scan and regular xrays and diagnosed me with gastritis which can't be seen w/o an egd. Sounds like they just pulled it out of a hat.

Very rarely does a doctor diagnose gastritis with an upper endo. It's typically diagnosed clinically. When it doesn't respond to various forms of treatment then endo is indicated.

I didn't know this. This is how my gastritis was detected before. How else could you see it

Just as I wrote, clinically. By asking you questions and ruling out other issues.

I've had gastritis a couple of times and neither time was I scoped.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
