Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor I am scheduled to be banded on the 9th of march

Recommended Posts

I live in MO and I am meeting my surgeon on the 27th of February. Kind of scared and excited, I have been anticipated to do this for quite some time, I cried when I got my approval letter from my insurance and the call from the doctors office to schedule my appointment and surgery date all in the same call.

My DH loves big girls but I am bit too big for my taste. I also have a daughter who is my life and I am not only doing this for myself but for her so I will be around to see her grow as the beautiful woman she will become.

I dont have too much of a support system since my mom passed in 2004 and my dear friends live outside the state, but I am gradually coming out of my shell and joining "fun" groups at my work. Today I am learning to knit LOL.

Just looking for someone to help me through this or be in my cheering section as I battle this losing battle :)...

thanks for stopping by and reading this.

You will do great. I am also scheduled to be banded on the 9th. I was so amazed when the insurance company approved me. I am also learning to knit. I live in Colorado, but I would be happy to be there in spirit and talk with you anytime. I know there will be times of frustration, and I too would love to have a good support system. My husband is being really great, but since he has never had a weight problem, I think it is hard for him to understand how I feel.

Keep your chin high and let me know if you need to talk.

Wendy

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
