Heartburn/overfilled

Recommended Posts

well I am 22 weeks pregnant and all was going great. Up until last week I had gained only 2 kilos and was pretty happy. I was able to eat a moderate amount, nottoo much, but enough according to dr and dietician. so I remained unfilled. Then last week I started experiencing mega heart burn and was unable to hold much down.

I was paranoid somthing had happened to my band. But going to see my band doctor he said that pressure during pregnancy can cause the band to become tighter. He took out 1 mil and now I can eat again. Not too much, but in a week I have put on 3 kilos. I am npw back up to 112 kilos

I am assuming it must be just because I was dehydrated. But I am so scared that after I give birth I will have all this weight to lose again. Iknow I should just focus on a healthy baby, because thats the main thing, but can't help feeling worried:scared2:

What has your experiences with band tightning and weight gain during pregnancy?

My weight is down overall. I recently gained 5 pounds since I had an unfill 2.5 weeks ago. However, at about 24 weeks I am at a net loss of -11 pounds (154 at conception and currently 143).

My band tightened sporadically during pregnancy. I was fine for the most part but occasionally with drift from eating fine to having trouble with liquids in a couple of days which led to 3 emergency unfills. I now have to stay empty until the baby comes.

Just keep in mind, heartburn is a common side effect of pregnancy as well as banding. Either factor could be causing it. I am happy the slight unfill will give you some relief.

I was too tight right from the beginning, so I had a small unfill.

Since then I've gone from too open, to too tight, in a matter of a day and I just go with it.

Due to this, I have gained 44lbs so far (Waaah). I've tried watching what I eat, and exercising more, but my body is pretty reluctant to lose any weight right now.. 44lb gain is with some plateaus (i've been on one for a couple weeks now thank goodness), and I'm just having to deal with it.

But, I am getting my fill back as soon as I have my baby and I'm confident I'll lose it all again.

Even on too open days, heartburn is killer for me. I had chronic heartburn pre-band days, then heartburn went away after losing about 60-80lbs.. now it's back and I can't take my beloved prilosec

I live on Zantacs (which I don't think work very well) and Tums (ditto).

It's not band related heartburn like being too tight, it's just part of being pregnant.

never had heartburn. The first few days post-delivery I was open. Not wide open, but open. Then I clamped down. Had a significant unfill, then had another due to significant refluxing. Have been good since, no reflux at all, PB once, tightness but not sognificantly so. Have a fill scheduled this week. I've gained 11 lbs back and I'm not happy because one of those 11 was the one that kicked me into the next size up in my clothes.

I think you have a great outlook on it all, a healthy baby is the most important thing and you have lost so much already, that 44lbs isn't the end of the world. I guess, if you had not lost any, you would have gained weight being pregnant on top of your pre band weight.

Good luck, when are you due?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
