I was banded 2/4/09 and am back to work today- a little slow and pokey, but doing okay so far. Mostly feel tired from lack of nutrition. Still doing 1 medifast shake and 1 inst b'fast a day along with lots of Vitamin Water, juices, Jello etc ... Had bad pain in shoulder from gas they use in procedure but walking and rocking helps that alot. I started pre-medifast at 240 and am now 212

Dont really have a hunger feeling yet.. but still pumping in liqs. Go for post op check on Friday

I was banded on Feb 3 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia PA. I haven't had any nausea, but tons of gas and gas pain. It is just starting to go away. I am a week out of surgery at this point and slowly drinking all day trying to get in my fluids. I am getting average about 5-6 cups of fluids down in a day and about 40 g Protein, averaging 500 calories. Hot drinks --tea, thin cream Soup and broth go down better for me than cold drinks. I use unjury Protein shake powder I ordered off the internet mixed with skim milk (by my doc's recommendation) it tastes alright. Hot V8 juice saved me during the pre-surgery liquid diet but I have been afraid to try it again since Tomato is so acidy. Maybe next week.

My doc said the shoulder pain --oh my gosh was it bad--was from the air they use to inflate your abdomen during surgery. Apparently it goes up into your shoulders after. I had my hubby rubbing them gently and used a heating pad on them. Pain Killers were essential for me the first few days. If you cannot get liquid pain killer you can crush the tablets,

I had some Egg Drop Soup last night and tolerated it very well and am even feeling less sore this morning....I am definetly not as whiney today!

Thank you for the birthday shoutout! How are you feeling??? I must admit it is getting a little bit easier:tongue2:

Hello my fellow bandsters!

I must admit after reading the postings, I am glad I started this thread you guys have been such a great support for me. :hurray:

I went back to work on Monday and like many of you I AM EXHAUSTED!! I cried today because I WANT FOOD!!! I swear I just want something in my mouth just to chew....the belching is out of control and boy is it loud and embarassing.:)

I still have the pain under my left breast and I spoke to my doctor. He said he had to place air in my body to lift the stomach and liver...he said it is taking time to readjust and get back in the same place...

I am still on the Clear liquids until Saturday and THEN I go to full liquids for 10 days and THEN I go to mushy food and THEN I go regular food...my congratuations to those who are already on Protein shakes, mushy foods, etc... I envy you...the great thing so far is I have lost 7lbs but it is expected...all I have had is LIQUIDS!!!

My friend recently gave me some "traveling jeans" that she bought before she had her lap band...a couple of months later...they were too big...she has given them to me and they are too small...I hope in a few months...I will be giving them to another bandster...let me know if you want them I will ship them to you and you can keep the tradition going...keep me updated on your progress...Be Blessed!

I would love to have the traveling pants. I am the mother of four girls and my youngest (12) actually did the same thing with her friends this summer. They found one pair of pants and just shared them. My girls would think it awesome to have someone do this for me - and I too can pass them on.

I see him on the 13th at 10 a.m.

I went back to work today, but I sit at a desk all day. It hasn't been that bad, but this chair is horrible. I get up and walk around about every hour....I thought I would just tough it out half a day, but I only have 30 more minutes to go for a full day.

I see Malley at 11:00 maybe we will run in to each other. I have not gone back to work yet. The last 2 day I have been in bed with a fever & chills. I called Malley's office yesterday and they ordered me some antibiotics. I believe I have broncitis because my husband got sick the day before my surgery and finally went to the doctors last Sunday and that is what he has. I feel a little better today, but I am not sleeping well at all. I guess I will not return to work until Monday now.

Hi fellow Feb 3rders - feeling pretty good except pain in my left shoulder. That is all I can really complain about. Went back to work on Monday and felt good.

I really appreciate reading all your posts - they have some helpful hints - like the "egg drop soup". Went with friends at lunch to Chinese and egg drop Soup was perfect - I didn't feel out of place.

Down 7 lbs since surgery, so I must be doing something right. It does seem weird not be eating - just drinking.

Again, thanks for all your posts and hang in there.

Hey all!

I am also a Feb. 3, 2009 bander! I think its cool to have this forum. Its funny to think of how many people in different places were undergoing the same thing the same day...lol

Got mine in VA. Today is my first Mushy food day( Pureed). I am a bit scared to venture, but am sooooo happy to be off the liquids.

I so want some chocolate for V-Day, but will most likely get sick...lol Not testing it!

The worst thing was the shoulder pain, which is a lot better nowand the acid reflux bothers my throat. I am always hungry, though. Dr. said maybe after first fill that will help.

Okay, I wanted to check in and hope you all have a great Valentine's Day!

I had my banding Feb 10th so I am glad to see what you all experienced. I am surprised how tired I feel. I take a couple of naps a day and sleep all night long. Glad I took a couple of weeks off work. I think I will try to take a walk around the block today. Maybe a little exercise will help. I haven't experienced any "hunger pains" as of yet. Thank goodness. One can only do so much broth and crystal light drinks hahaha But keep the info coming, I enjoy reading others questions and answers. It is good to know I am not alone in this.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
