I'm Back !!!

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Well I am back from having my banding done and I have got to say that it was not as bad as I thought. I feel a sore at the moment but that is to be expected. Everything went well and my surgeon did a hernia repair as well.

So now it is down to the serious business.

Tas I hope all went well for you as well.

Welcome back Sunshine! So glad everything went well for you - very inspiring. I'm on day 4 of Opti and I tell you, being fat is looking very appealing compared to this. Thank you for keeping my eye on the prize on this really hard day for me (its Friday and I want to binge and drink). Not hungry at all just bored with opti and grieving the social aspects of food. Cant wait to be you! 10 days to go! And f#$%^&ing counting!

Hi, I was banded last Tuesday. Had a lots of gas pain for two days. Still a bit sore but feeling better every day. Sipping is my new full time job. 100mls every half hour. This is the beginning of the next part of my life. The part where I'm not fat!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
