So, I am 2 weeks post op and its my birthday today. Well the entire family went to a lavish dinner, and although I did not eat what I normally do, I think I ate too much. It crept up on me as I thought I was doing well. I was wrong!

I am feel extremely full and uncomfortable - although not any pain in my stomach. I am now afraid that I may have ate too much and will stretch the new pouch.

I did a short walk and it helped. Did I do any damage? Anyone have any advice?!? Will I be okay?

I will NEVER do that again!

If you're still supposed to be on liquids or mushies you might want to check with your surgeon.

I don't think you stretch the pouch with one episode. I ate too fast at Thanksgiving and felt the same way, my whole body felt bad. I watched my intake for a couple days and still felt restriction. It just hit me that I was full but I had already taken like 10 bites past that. A big attention grabber, huh? It will get better, I think we all do it once. Hey kids don't believe its hot till they burn themselves right?

The worry isn't really stretching your pouch during the "post op diet" phase (you don't really have much of one; until restriction happens, the belt is fairly loose around the neck of your stomach, for most of us) but eating early can cause problems with the band healing in place.

The post op diet is prescribed for a reason...so best to check with your surgeon.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
