Has anybody on here had their band for 2-3 years?

Recommended Posts

I just celebrated my 2 yr Bandiversary on Jan. 19. I have lost and kept off 84 pounds since the surgery and had lost 68 before the band. So I am down 142 pounds from my highest weight ever of 368 pounds. My goal is to get to 199. This last 20 pounds or so is the hardest. My body refuses to let me get any lower no matter what i do. But still I have no regrets and not gonna give up no matter what. I will take 216 over 368 any day.

I have been banded for 2 1/2yrs. I can honestly say that it has been hard for me. It took me a long time to lose the weight I have. I think that my dedication to everything is quite limited. It took until my 2nd year to feel any restriction. So before that I felt like I was doing the same as all the other times I lost weight. After the last fill, I finally felt what I had heard everyone talk about. Which was kind of hard to get use to cuz I have always been able to eat whatever I want. I tend to over do it with exercise and then get burned out. Then I take a week off and feel horrible. So my new years resolution this year is "everything in moderation." I don't think I will ever figure it all out, but I just keep plugging away. This site is my way of staying accountable. I only go to the doctor now once a year, and my band is full to capacity. The weight loss challenges and exercise challenges on this site keep me going. And the big bonus is whenever you have a bad day or feel like you blew it, you can come here and get pumped back up and great advise from people that have been where your at. And they truely care. So thanks to everyone! You guys keep me going. I would definately do the band again, it is hard work, but well worth it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
