Anyone calves hurt??

Recommended Posts

Right when I woke from surgery I felt an ache in my left leg. I forgot all about it because of the pain meds, but the next moring it was like I just ran 10 miles. :tongue_smilie: It's still just as bad 4 days later? I don't know why this would happen? Anyone have this problem?

You need to call your doctor. It could be many things...low potassium, or a blood clot for example. Please call your doc right away and see what he says!

I would definitely speak with your doctor about your concerns, but I had soreness in my calves after my surgery as well. It ended up being because of the compression wraps that they put around my calves in order to prevent blood clots before, during, and after my surgery. They massaged my legs....felt great until the soreness kicked in. The soreness took a few days to go away.

Hello,

I haven't been banded yet, but I have has issues with leg and calf cramping. It is uaually do to dehydration and/or low potassium.

For the next few days, eat a banana and 8oz of Water 3 x daily. The banana is mashable and a good food and Vitamin source.

I, personally, have resigned myself to eating a banana daily and taking a potassium and Calcium suppliment for the rest of my life.

I also keep a one gallon drink dispenser (the glass/plactic type with spouts that are sold summer drinks) in my kitchen and bedroom filled with Water. You can easily flavor the water if needed with one of the many powdered energy packets on the market these days.

And, yess, bring this to the attention of your doctor.

Blessings,

vayiayia

Because the pain is just in one leg, you should tell the Dr. as he may very well want to rule out a blood clot.

I agree with everyone else here, have surgeon check it for a blood clot. That being said, I had low potassium after surgery for a few weeks. I had to take an additional potassium supplement. I had horrible leg cramps and soreness from the low potassium. But now 2 months later no problems at all! Love my band.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
