I Just Got Banded!!

Recommended Posts

I finally got banded on Tuesday 16th December and was discharged the afternoon afternoon after. I gotta tell you that first day was really painful but I think it also has to do with the factor that my doctor repaired my hietus hernia. I'm still very sore which is natural but I think the worst is behind me. I lost 16lbs on my pre op diet and I'm hoping I can drop more over the next couple of weeks.

I am offically a bandit!

I was banded on Monday and also had a hernia repaired. I am doing pretty good. The pain gets better everyday. Good luck and lets stay in touch.

Congrats on your band the first few days are extremely painful however there is alot more pain and frustration to come your way before you start seeing any real results. My advise to all banders is just stay strong cause once you reach your plateau (when you can feel comfortable without adjustments) it will all be worth it. Wishing you all the best!!

That is great news, congrats to everyone that has had success or is moving forward. Perhaps you will be able to answer some questions...I have done all the steps that my surgeon requires thus far, but have received my blood tests back from my physical and my thyroid is inactive and my triglycerides are elevated and therefore she won't recommend me for surgery. Isn't this the reason I am entertaining getting banded? Has anyone else had this problem? I am now really confused as to what to do.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
