Hi, my name is Tricia, and I had surgery bank on August 18th. I have 4cc's in a 9cc band. Problem? I have lost 20 pounds - all of which happened in September and October. The scale has not budged since. I do not have any restriction at all, and feel like I am still doing this on my own. It is getting scary, I don't want to gain that 20 back. Can I call and tell them I need a fill? How often is everyone else out there getting them? The most frustrating part is : yes, my close friends and family say they are seeing a difference, but I have had people at work ask if it is not working. It's kind of embarassing, even though I know I should not care!!! lol Any input would be appreciated!!

You should see if you can scedule another fill. Everyone has to work up to the proper restriction which typically takes four or more fills to reach.

My first fill was six weeks post-op. My doctor has me come in once a month whether I need a fill or not but if I need a fill before that I can schedule it. I have had 5 fills and am finally at my sweet spot, My last fill was six weeks ago.

Thanks for the input, I will give my doctor a call and see if I can get scheduled for another fill. Everyone keeps saying what a difference it makes once you get the restriction, so I will just keep looking forward to that!! By the way - i see you are from Sterling. My husband and I lived in fairfax and a few other areas for 8 years, we came back towards pittsburgh after we had our daughter!! I miss it there - sometimes!! Also, do you think it is a little harder for people who are under a certain weight to lose? If you don't mind - when did you have your surgery?

Yes it really does make a difference when you get to your sweet spot.

I think that the more weight you have to lose the faster you lose at first. I weighed 234 and my weight loss has been consistent even now that I am approaching goal.

I am a transplant from PA too! I've been here for 20 years and still can't see myself going back to PA yet. (I grew up near Ebensburg, pretty depressed area)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
