:sad:Hi bandsters,

I was banded in Nov 2007, however it has not been the usual bandster experience for me. I fell pregnant with my first baby after only 6 weeks. I then had Fluid taken out to 3ml so I could eat well for the baby. Then in July 2008 as the baby was getting too big, I needed all the fluid taken out so I could eat at all. Three week after my baby daughter arrived I made sure I was back at my doctors having the fluid put back in, he put 4ml in, I had an aweful time overnight, unable to even swallow my own saliva, being in intense pain and having to spit up my saliva. So, I was back on the doctors doorstep the next day to get the fluid out, and being extremely frustrated, and even after a Barium Swallow test revealed no slippage, I decided not to have any fluid put back in until I finish breastfeeding. HOWEVER..... NOW another problem... I have been eating very cautiously because I can feel how sensitive my band is. Two days ago I ate 1 piece of pizza, and it didnt stay down long and since then am having a lot of pain, reflux, a strong heart burn, and again am having a LOT of trouble even consuming liquids. I am also experiencing a lot of gurgling and burping when I swallow even my saliva. HELP.... What is wrong with me.

I agree, if you've got no more Fluid in there to take any more pressure off, you need medical attention.

I would be very very cautious about filling a band before breastfeeding is established, certainly before six weeks or so. Your hormones are all over the place, you need energy to make milk and extreme tightness is not the least bit surprising.

I hope all is OK.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
