How did we all do on thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

I did good eating. It was after midnight, when my son started seizing that I had SERIOUS issues. Most of the day yesterday I managed sips of Water, then some ice cream later in the day. I had to do something. I'm still not back to normal, and I get a fill wednesday. I hope everything is back to normal then.

My son is nearly 3 yr olds (one of my twins). He'd had seizures in the NICU when he was recovering from some surgery. Anyway, they went away. So they took him off the seizure meds 8 months ago. His system was seriously overwhelmed with colds/virus's/immunizations. So it triggered a 90 minute seizure. He ended up being life-flighted to a larger hospital (the one with the NICU he was in), and me making a FAST trip to get to be with him. His twin and my older son went with grammy. My band tightened up so bad it hurt at times. But we made it thru the storm. We're stronger for the events of the day, and I'm thankful to be back home.

Hi Teri. I am so sorry that you and your family had to go through this. I'm sure it was scarey for you, and for your boys. Being a Mom of healthy children is rough... but when they are sick it is so very hard. I know you go through a lot on a day to day basis, and I think you are an amazing woman and a wonderful Mother. I'm glad that things turned out ok. I am so proud of you for doing so well with you new band - I know how important getting healthier is to you and you are doing an awsome job. You are lucky to have your sons and they are VERY lucky to have you. Keep up the good work and take good care of the angels Mother... ok? Becky

p.s. - I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ate well, spent time with the people that I love, and focused on all of the things that I am thankful for. I am blessed.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
