Uh-oh.. How do you know if you're TOO tight?

Recommended Posts

I know, I have read that if you can't swallow your own spit, you're too tight. If you can't drink liquids, you're too tight.

How else can you tell if you're too tight?

I just got another fill on Monday (+1cc) for a total of 7.5 in my Realize band. I was on liquids until late last night. I tried to eat some ground turkey and cheese and salsa and it did not happen for me. I got very sick. This morning I tried to eat some farina and got sick. Circumstances to consider: last night, I was starving and ate too fast/did not chew well (I think). This morning I drank a little lemonade with my farina (which was thick). That's when I felt sick.

Am I too tight? Are these just circumstantial sickies? Should I call the doc? I am worried b/c I'm going out of town for the holiday weekend.

TIA

!

In my experience, it did take a while to adjust to my fill. I think it is up to you and how much you can tolerate bc everyone is different. Right now it sounds like you are very tight so you will have to feed yourself like you are a baby. Very small bites, very slow, very soft, chew like crazy etc...It will loosen up after a while but you may have to be willing to go back to the liquid/mushie diet for a while. You will not be eating too much on Turkey Day! If you don't want to deal with all that go get it unfilled a bit. GOOD LUCK and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

thanks avm! that actually answers a secondary question i have, but didn't ask..

i have to chew more and eat slower. i really MISS eating. not food, but eating, you know?

has anyone else felt as though their fills are much tighter when first done, and then loosen up? that makes me paranoid that there's a leak somewhere!!

In my experience you band can get looser bc it has adjusted itself to the new fill level or bc you lost weight or bc you have been eating in a band friendly manner or just bc it feels like it. TOM can make tighter too. Time of day can make it tighter. Stress can make it tighter. After a while you will get more used to its various "moods." :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
