anyone with oxford pos?

Recommended Posts

oxford was so easy to deal with when i first got my lapband. all told, the approval process took a little over two weeks. i know, i was definitely fortunate. now i'm hoping to tempt the fates again and hoping oxford pos will cover a tt/pani. like many here, i'm had a recurring rash and a ongoing back pain from the skin now hanging off my midsection. ugh. i've obviously got more lbs to lose, but i'd like to line things up so that the next step in the process will be a little easier to deal with.

anyone here dealt with oxford for ps? what was your ps approval process like? what did information/proof of medical necessity did you have to provide them?

thanks in advance for your help and the info.

I'm dying to know the answer to your question myself!!! Like you, I also have Oxford and I am wondering the same thing. The approval for Lap Band was soooooo easy I'm hoping approval for TT or pani and a breast reduction/lift will be just as easy! I called Oxford about 3mo ago and asked what was required before these things were done. I was told just the doctor's recommendation and a medical reason. Sounds pretty easy. I hope the rep at Oxford was right! I'm wondering when is the right time? Although I am heavier (scale wise) than I orginally wanted to be, I like the way I look in my clothes. My husband, mother, family and friends all say I look good! I just need for this daggone extra skin to be gone. I'm so tired of tucking it in my pants and Spanx! I'll be anxiously checking for replies on this!

Thanks for posting.

WOW.. I just realized we were both banded at Lenox Hill by partners. I was banded by Dr. Shah- Dr. Roslin's partner! Don't you just love the new office!

I didnt get covered but that is because my pannus really wasnt very bad - I had no documented rashes and it didn't hang low enough. Most of my excess skin was removed from the backside with a LBL. That said, oxford has been great and 100% if my overall hospital costs (all together 2 nights in hospital 7 hours in surgery) becuase of hernia repair and I also had a lower body lift . All I paid was the plastic surgeon's pay which is care for a year.

good luck

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
