Recommended Posts

My port has been swollen since my surgery and I guessed it would go down so I have not worried much. But now its poking out alot and its hurting a little. I am worried a little bit. So has anyone else went through this. My dr office is not to bright so right now I am switching doctors so I just want to hear experiences thanks.

well its like a big lump not like a hard ball.. and my port is always very easy to access. So if you look at me from the side u see my tummy is flat but if I turn to the other side with my port you see a big lump. It feels like maybe Fluid. But my port has also been hurting a bit. I did ask about this last time I was at my dr but the nurse said I must just be doing something to pull with my mucles and that the fluid should drain. Anyways they are not to bright.

My port is very noticeable. It looks like half of a tennis ball sitting on my stomach. I have days when my port is tender but I wouldn't call it pain. I think your decision to seek a second opinion is a good one. I hope everything is ok.

My port has always been pretty close to the surface and sticks out a little but nothing too crazy. It doesn’t bother me at all and I touch it often.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I don't want to scare you but port infections have been linked to erosion so you really need to get to the bottom of this ASAP.

Has it been this way since surgery or on & off? Does your doctor do many bands? Have you had a fever at all? Have they given you any antibiotics? When it was healing did you have any yellow or brown puss from the incision site?

Push! Push! Push! While it is your surgeon's responsibility to care for you, in the end, it's YOUR body and YOUR health. Don't settle or let them blow you off.

Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed. I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
