insisting on more frequent fills

Recommended Posts

surgery 10-1, 1st fill 11-5 & can't even tell i have the thing in me. next fill 4 wks from 1st. this last wk i feel hopeless, discouraged, & very depressed, & have binged out daily. has anyone had any luck arguing w/their conservative doc & insisting on more frequent fills to get this show on the road???? this is more stressful than the original demon inside me dieting, failing, guilt, etc. does everyone else just wait it out???

Hi petlover. This is probably not what you want to hear, but the first few months after the band is the time to try and "cement" your habits in. If you're binging now, you risk the possibility of damage. I know it's difficult, but try to practice on your good habits: small portions, small bites, chew throughly, eat slowly, no liquids with meals, and make good food choices (Protein first, then veg, then misc.).

You can do it petlover. It gets easier with the fills, but you still have to do your part. Good luck!

I was banded 7-07 and didn't get restriction till May of 08. Now, 15 months after surgery, I have lost a total of 122 pounds. You can do it......you can't expect the band to do it for you. Watch what you eat, drink your Water and get your butt in gear. It will come off. You don't want to reach restriction too fast.you might have an overfill then and believe me, you don't want that.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
