New member to LBT <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Hi all,

I'm a new member at LBT. At first I met Dr. Elliott Goodman in Teaneck, NJ and was ready to have RNY until I saw my mother go through the surgery and I them had second thoughts. I then decided to look into Lap band due to less risks. Somewhat nervous but I'm excited to be able to take a new step in my life. I'm tired of not being able to do many different things with my children and feeling disgusted with myself. I'm glad to be part of this site and hoping to get lots of encouragement.

Has anyone been banded by Dr. George Fielding from NY? I just met him on 7/12/05 seems like a nice Dr. but a very busy practice. Hope to be banded soon, though GHI already denied me for RNY and I hear they are horrible at approving WLS. Thanks to all!!

Good luck to you Glenda! I hope you are banded soon, too! My insurance wouldn't pay either, so "out-of-pocket" it came, but so far, worth it!! Be ready to fight if you can. I wish you the best!

Welcome to LBT!!

Hi Glenda, and WELCOME to LBT!

Im sure we have lots of NJ membes here, but our most popular one is Alexandra. She may be able to give you more of an opinion on the doc you mentioned. :)

BTW - how is your mother doing with the RNY?

Hi Glenda. I know someone here has used Dr. Fielding, try using the search button on top of this site. I'd find it for you & paste it if I knew how. Please let us know how things go for you.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
