Anyone from dundee or nearby

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I was banded on 15 Sept 08 at Bomsgrove with the WGA package. I live in Dundee and feel really isolated with my band. Would love to hook up with someone nearby who has had a band. Just found the UK section on this website so that really cheered me up. I had a 3 cc fill in my 10 cc band last week and feel nothing. Is anyone else the same. I could eat all day if it wasn't for my will power. Would love to hear from you if you live near me or are experiencing the same things as me. Also can anyone advise me where to go for fills. My fill last week was when I got my X-ray in Manchester so need to find somewhere more local for my fills.

Hi Dundeedawn

I'm in Edinburgh myself, although born in Dundee and brought up in Carnoustie. I have family in your area and visit every 6 weeks or so.

I was banded on the 2nd Feb this year and have lost about 6 1/2 stone so far. Good luck on your journey.

Spire Murrayfield in Edinburgh do fills, both under x-ray and just in clinic. Let me know if you want the number.

Sadie :)

Thanks Sadie. I actually work in Carnoustie. Congrats on your weight loss, thats really great. I'm struggling just now but think I'm just needing a good fill. I checked with the Spire Murrayfield but I think it was about £300 for a fill, does that sound right? Great to hear from you.

Hiya - I got banded in Glasgow and live in West Lothian . Pretty sure Mr David Galloway at Nuffield would do fills for you. He's great and a gentleman too!

Hi Dundeedawn. I'm also in Edinburgh and just had my band fitted last Thursday (4th Dec).

I just checked my stuff I have from Spire Murrayfield and if you didn't have your band fitted there then the cost IS £300 for a consultation/band fill (eeek!).

Hi Sadie - wow! well done on your weight loss, that's fantastic!. I believe there is a support group in Edinburgh, is it bit far for you to travel Dawn?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
