Hi everybody. I had my surgery June 10, 08 by Dr. Zubin Bhesania at Port Huron Hospital. I went in at a whopping 324 pounds. (I have a hard time believing that I did that to myself.) Well here it is slightly more than 4 months later and I'm down 59 pounds at a "svelt" 265 and losing. I was wearing a 28-30 pants, today I squeezed my fanny into a 22! I wouldn't trade my lapband for anything!! I went for a fill today. I'm up to 5.5cc in a 10cc band.

Way to go Cindy! I just got my band on October 1st, along with a double hernia surgery. I hope I can lose as good as you! I am out of the 3's and down to the 2's already though!

Hi Cindy,

I live in Grand Rapids and had my surgery done in Mexico in April. I am down 51 lbs and agree with you, it has been great! Let me know if you ever get over this way. It would be great to have someone in the state to talk to. Congrats on your success, its only the beginning!

Hi Ladies,

My sister is in Kazoo and interested in getting banded too! Can you each tell me who your doctor is and where you go for fills? I told her going to Mexico would be cheapest, but she has questions on the pre-surgery stuff and follow up.

thanks,

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
