Slendertone Exercise Belt...

Recommended Posts

HELP! Second inquiry. Has anyone used the Slendertone EMS belt to reduce their ABS/STOMACH/WAIST? Is it safe for lap band users? For those who do not know what EMS is (as I didn't when I first was introduced to the concept) it is a exercise system approved by the FDA that uses electronic pulses to contract musles which in turn helps you to reduce inches. I havn't tried it yet as I am a little wary since the belt goes right across my stomach.confused.gif

How could it be approved by the FDA? This belt is neither a food nor a drug.

Also, it is basically a cheapie version of a TENS machine. Sending electrical impulses to your fat will not work out your muscles. A TENS machine (used in physical therapy) plugs into the wall and is quite powerful. I doubt that this contraption has that much power. (does it run on batteries?)

I would call a foul on this one and look for something else.

A TENS machine does not plug into the wall, it runs on batteries, I think that you are confused with an e-stim machine which allows you to administer IFC (interferencial current). TENS machines are often sent home with patients in order to manage their pain.

Sorry, but the best way to reduce the size of your stomach is cardio and strength work combined - burn off the fat and do stomach work to tone and strengthen. But unless you burn off the fat, nothing is going to make much difference.

Many people already HAVE the six pack, you just cant see it.

Hi Kathy,

Yes, believe it or not, it does work if you keep up with it.

I have been lazy about using it, but noticed after the first few weeks that I had to keep tightening up the belt.

I think the main thing was when I'm using it I'm more inclined to hold my stomach in. You pull your stomach in at the same time and work with it.

This does not work miracles, but my experience with it has been fine.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
