Funny pain in side and shoulder

Recommended Posts

I am going in to see my doctor tomorrow, but thought I would post here.

Friday, I went to a work function, and I drank with my meal, and was able to eat more, of course. I felt no restriction, though I have been feeling good restriction when i follow the rules.

Saturday i went out to eat and again, drank with the meal (non-carbonated) and ate more than I usually can. This time I was super uncomfortable afterward. For about 2 hours the pressure was really bad. I had light pain on the left side in across my back near my left shoulder blade. After I had a few large burps, I felt much much better.

I've still been feeling some twinges of pain in the same places, especially after I eat. I just felt it was best to go and check it out.

I haven't been nauseated, or had any reflux. OF course, I'm worried about a band slip or stretched pouch. I am on liquids until I go in for the check (I'm going to drink something and get under the fluro-thingy. I've been really active lately and my band is working really well because I almost always follow the rules. I'm really mad at myself for not doing that and I'm just praying that everything is okay - as I'm self pay and cannot afford a lot of procedures to fix anything.

Anybody else had these symptoms? I also have been working around my house a lot and thought it might just be fatigue. Anyway - keep me in your thoughts!

This is normal - it is gas related - my left shoulder hurt quite a bit right after surgery but I do not feel it anymore - 3 months out. That is a normal side effect.

I have pain in my left shoulder/collar bone when I either eat too fast, don't chew well enough, or eat something that doesn't agree with my band (especially anything with a hint of bread - which I rarely do). I started having these pains with my last fill, which has increased my restriction significantly. Certain things that I know I can eat do not create this pain. It's definitely situational with me and I slime most times when I have the pain. From what I gather, it's normal. But I'm still new at this, so I'm going to watch this thread as well for some more well defined answers. Good luck! :smile2:

I'd say the most noticeable and unpleasant "side effect" for me is the pain in my left shoulder. It had gotten so bad that I've been seeing a massage therapist to help with it (and other, back-related, issues) Granted, it could be due, in part, to the fact that I have two young children who constantly want to be picked up and carried around. But I definitely noticed it get worse after my surgery in April, and no amount of rubbing, icing or OTC pain meds were helping. It's just now getting to the point where it doesn't seem to be as constant, and I really hope it stays that way.

I was banded June 27th - I had that same pain for a few weeks but I do not have it any more - I think it had to do with gas but I think your pain will eventually go away and especially if you try not to drink with your meals and watch what you are eating - the few times I have had it since June were when I ate something I probably shouldn't have. My head still tells me sometimes that I am hungry and I can eat what I want but then when I try it I find out very quickly it was all in my head - no way can I eat certain things - for instance I tried to eat one-half of a pimento cheese sandwich - I was starving - I ate 3 bites and that is all I could get down and shortly thereafter I had a slight pain in my left shoulder.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
