Did anyone else dry out after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am in my 3rd week post op. I am starting to dry out. My lips are chapped. My hands and feet are dry. I put on lotion, but within minutes it feels like I never put any on. I am drinking my Water, but I am still feeling so dry. Did anyone else have this happen post surgery?

Yep, since surgery my skin has done a complete 180 (I used to be very oily). It's been quite the learning curve for me, since I have NEVER had dry skin. I assume it is because I don't get as much fat in my diet but I don't know for sure. I know another lady that had rny and had the same thing happen.

Yes, me too. I think part of it is we may not be getting enough healthly fat in our diet. I have just added fish hoping it will help. I know too that I am not getting enough Water and I am working on that.

Initially after surgery, I had cut all fats out of my diet to jump start my loss. I have dry skin anyway, and to do that meant DRY skin. As I added the fats back into my diet, it improved, but I still have to use a lot of lotion. I used the St. Ives lotion for healing and extreme dryness. It seems to work well for me now. Once you get regulated on your Water, that will help too. Right now it's just passing right through.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It helps to know that this is normal. I didn't know if I was doing something wrong. Thanks!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
