I thought I was pretty together and ready for the surgery. Well, I think that it is really weighing on my mind. I got my blood work back and my glucose levels were really back so I am trying to really watch my diet this week so I will heal better after the surgery. So, tonight I went out with a bunch of people from work for a celebration. I was really good, but I wanted one bite of my friend's mac and cheese because that is what I really wanted, but didn't want to order it. My one coworker took the fork from me and was like, you can't have that! I realize that she thought she was helping me. I kind of flipped out on her and was like that isn't helping me. I made a bit of a scene, but then apologized to her. I know her heart was in the right place, but I told her that that type of thing doesn't really help me. I feel bad that I flipped out, but I also want to make sure that people treat me the way that I want to be treated after the surgery.

Yes, it is hard. Everyone has good and bad days. Let's put this in perspective- no one jerks a cigarette out of a smoker's mouth unless they're in a highly flammable area. So why is it OK for your 'friend ' to behave so rudely? The 'friend' isn't treating you with respect. Don't beat yourself up for their behavior. Focus on you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
