I went in on Sept. 19 to have my first fill since my banding on Aug. 21. I was told I have a standard size band. My doctor put 1 1/2 cc in. It didn't even hurt and he had no trouble finding my port. He just layed me back on the table and put a pillow under my back and told me to raise up like I was doing a crunch and he found my port and injected my fill in there and it was over. He numbed the injection site first before he put in my fill. I don't get hungry and I just find there are certain things I have to be careful eating but I don't feel a whole lot of restriction yet. I can still eat over a cup full but I can't eat like I use too..It will soon be 3 months and no diet pepsi or any carbinated drinks. WOW......I am going back Oct. 15th for my 2nd fill so maybe that will help me be more restricted. As for my weight I have only lost 26 lbs since my surgery but I don't rely on my scales a whole lot. I have been measuring and have lost 11 1/2 inches and my energy is coming back. I am playing sports again with my family and not sitting on the couch in pain so thats a plus. I have learned you can't wait for your old habits to break you, you have to break your old habilts. I was a compulsive overeater before my surgery so this has been a battle for me but I am winning...:)

It sounds like you are doing great and adjusting well to life with the band. As for "only" having lost 26 pounds since surgery, what do you mean "only"??? You are doing fabulous and ahead of the curve at only about six weeks out. Remember, the band is not gastric bypass, it is designed for us to lose a healthy 1-2 pounds per week.

Hey Marie! I'm in Tuscaloosa and it sounds like you are really doing very well. I was banded 9/24 and like you doing wonderful and feeling great. I'm already back to walking without dieing in the process! lol

Glad to know that the fills do not hurt. I think I am more worried about that than I was about the surgery itself.

Keep up the good work!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
