For sure, DO NOT weigh yourself every day. You will do better if you aren't a slave to the scales. Even though I'm tempted, I weigh myself once a week. Also, it's supposed to come off slowly. And, it's not easy either. I know I had very lax eating habits and change is hard. Just having surgery didn't change my old habits and I fight those every day. This process asks a lot of us, more than a few temporary changes. This is for life and I'm just beginning to accept that a month after my banding. I need to create my own success.

Thanks to all of you for being there.

Barbara

Wow! Thank you all so much for your replys! I am feeling so much better after reading what you all had to say! I know that its going to take quite a while to lose the weight I want (I need to learn to be more patient!!), and I know that the band is a tool. I promised myself that I would only weigh myself once a week and to make sure I'm getting enough (good)calories in! Its so comforting to know that whenever I am feeling down, or need help with something that I can come here and have so many people on my side, willing to help me! Thank you all so SO much! :tongue2:

Well, It's still really slow but I made it thru Thanksgiving week {with friends} and lost 1/2 lb. Maybe not much weight but, to me, a great triumph!

I know the feeling of not losing - I lost 20 pounds the first two weeks post-op and nothing since! I too was discouraged, but read posts that until you reach your sweet spots, it's a slow process. I have only had one fill and noticed no difference. Another fill next week. BUT I have been exercising and am losing inches - so I'll take that! It is a slow process and we are getting healthier, so you have to look at the big picture and Celebrate any victories you have! And above all else - I am not gaining weight! LOL!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
