So, my surgery is on the 13th. I'm super excited, but I'm also starting to freak out. What if it doesn't help? What if something goes wrong? I'm having a party tonight as kind of my last hurrah before the surgery and it feels like it is a goodbye to food. I'm fed up with food. I am so excited to be getting my freedom from it! Guess I'm excited and scared to death at the same time!

I know what you mean as far as being so attached to food... unfortunately you will still stuggle with it afterwards, you will just suffer more unpleasant side effects and keep with this support group - it is really helping me. I was really struggling until I hooked up with this and everyone on here is so motivating! It is wonderful. I wonder if I will ever be free of the "hold" food has on me, but I sure hope it does. For a couple of weeks after I had my surgery, I felt like I was in control, but then once I started eating food again, I started to push the envelop, but now I feel like I am starting to get back in control again. Good luck to you.

I feel the same way! My surgery is on the 14th. I'm excited  and scared too! I'm scared of the surgery itself, I'm afraid of the things that I've heard can happen afterwards...the mucus, the slipping, pbing. Is there such a thing at TOO MUCH research?? I'm excited about the potential I have to lose this time! My hubby and I, my best friend and I like to go out to eat. We did that way to much. That will change now and part of me isn't sure how I feel about that. I worry about things being different with my hubby and my friend. So much of our time has been about food. My doctor requires a two week liquid diet prior to surgery... slimfast for Breakfast and lunch, WW or Lean Cuisine meal for supper. Water and other liquids are allowed. My hubby and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary by going out to dinner for my "last supper"... how bad is that? I want to change. I want to lose weight! I have to for my health!

I am also suppose to be banded on Oct 13th. I am excited, but won't believe that it is going to happen until I am in O.R. I have had a few delays in approval due to my insurance, but have known my date since July. My Dr. office said that insurance finally came through on Thurs., but like I said I won't believe it until I am in recovery. I had my last meal supper last Sunday. It was an egg roll party. I had a great time and have been trying to do low fat no carb diet all week.

Good luck...lets keep in touch.

I know exactly how you feel. I was there not too long ago. I had my surgery on 9/30. Prior to that I went on vacation. I knew I would never be able to eat certain things again. There is a place in Missouri called Lamberts that make the best "down home" cookin ever. The home of the Thrown rolls. That was the end of July beginning of August. I had my last harrah then. The weeks before my surgery there were foods I just HAD to say goodbye to. Not because I cant have them, but just that I shouldnt have them. follow your dr.s orders do the liquid diet. Its not easy but I have 2 more days on liquids then purees.. so You can do it. THe anticipation will build. My recommendation. The day before your operation keep yourself busy. That way you dont get too worked up and anxious over it. Keep the mind occupied. Good luck. Maranda.

Yeah, I have been saying goodbye to a lot of foods. My Mom keeps saying...it isn't like you aren't going to be able to eat anything! I told her taht there is a lot of stuff I don't want to eat after the surgery even if I can eat them because I don't want food to have a handle over me like it does now. I've had three back surgeries so the surgery part of it doesn't scare me too much. The liquid diet after does! But, I WILL follow it because I don't want to screw this up! Good luck to those of you being banded in October too!

You all are about to start the weight loss journey that will transform your lives. Of course you're nervous and excited - that's natural. The future holds so much change for you, not only in terms of the physical weight loss, but also in a general sense of greater well being.

Always stay positive, even when it would be easier to get down. You will have ups and downs, times when you question your decision to have the band, and times of great excitement when you realise the changes that are happening. Enjoy the ride, stay disciplined and focussed and be patient. Give a reasonable time scale to lose the weight.

Best of luck with your operations and weight loss.

I understand what y'all are saying. I'm going to be banded on the 29th and I've already said "goodbye" to a few foods! pizza, mexican, a boston cream donut from Dunkin. I've been drinking Protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and a snack during the day, then eating a fairly sensible dinner. I'm very excited but also nervous!

I bought a pair of jeans yesterday and they were smaller! I went in the store in a size 26 and bought a pair in size 22. They're a somewhat stretchy material, but they weren't really stretching... they just fit well. I even got a top that was a 22/24 with some spandex in it. I never would have done that before. I was so excited. I actually got teary in the dressing room. But it's really cool to think that this is just the beginning!!

We have to stay focussed on all of the victories that we'll experience, the freedom from the hold food has on us, the ability to see ourselves shrink, getting off meds for weight-related illnesses, increased energy... How exciting!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
