Too much fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I goy my 1st fill 4 days ago - 1.8 cc's in a 4 cc band. The first 2 days I felt diff't/tighter but OK. Then all of the sudden I feel very tight. I can do Protein shakes in the AM and Soups in the afternoons evenings. How do I know if I have the right amount of fill? I would think I should give my body a couple of weeks to adjust and then decide? Are you extra tight at first after a fill and then it loosens up a bit or is how I feel today how I will feel until I lose a chunk of weight and my stomach shrinks? Any help will be very appreciated as obviously I am new to all of this. Thanks!!!!

You should be able to get solid foods down when the doctor says it is OK to be back on solids after a fill (for me four days later). You don't want to be so tight that you cannot. If you cannot get solids down after a week call your doctor. You don't want to stay too tight and just wait until your stomach shrinks to get relief.

Usually the band does loosen on it's own after a couple of weeks. Give it a little bit more time. Most people are always much tighter in the mornings.

If you can't eat solid food after a couple of weeks, definitely give the dr. a call.

Please let us know how you are doing. I worry about people that stay tight for too long because they think this is the best way to lose weight.

Your fill will probably loosen up, but I will be thinking of you and wondering how you are doing.

That is so nice of you - I really appreciate your support. I think much of it is just learning how I am supposed to eat now which is a polar opposite of how I ate before! I am excited about the band - I can already tell it is going to make all the difference for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
