Question for big losers...

Recommended Posts

I have a question for 40+ gals who have lost most /all of their excess weight...

If you had incontinence problems when you were overweight, did it reduce or go away after losing the weight? I just have it when I cough or sneeze right now.. that's bad enough... :girl_hug: I know it is linked to being obese, so I was curious if it goes away after the weight loss...

I used to have a lot of incontinence problems - it seemed the heavier I was the worse it was. I was on medication for a while it had become such an issue. I'm down 45 pounds and can really tell a difference. I haven't had to take any medication for it since dropping weight. I think the excess weight on your bladder really makes a difference. The docs told me if I lost weight it should improve. They were right in my case.

I used to have to cross my legs when I sneezed or coughed. It has resolved itself completely. I had a minimal problem before . . . and none now.

My goal is 100 pounds and I have lost 90 of it. When heavy I had a slightly different problem. I didn't leak with sneezing or coughing, I had what I can best describe as a slow leak. It was there all the time, to the point where I had to wear protection. That has TOTALLY resolved with my weight loss.:girl_hug:

Not sure exactly when it resolved itself during the last three weeks, I just all of a sudden realized that I it was not a problem! One of those NSV's people talk about on here!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
