Hi my name is Tracy. I just had my surgery on 9/16! I am 5'6" and I weight 267. It was a long journey for me to get here! When I started the process I was 23 lbs heavier. My goal is SIZE HEALTHY! I am not sure what that number is but I will know when I get there! I live in Seymour, IN, that is about 50 miles N of Louisville, KY, 60 miles South of Indianapolis and 60 west of Cincinnati. I am a married to a wonderful man, Craig, we have been married for 9 years! He is very supportive of my surgery and ME! My family all resides on the East Coast. They are also very supportive. I have a part time job at Aldi (the grocery store), I was going to school truing to find my way ( for the 2nd time around) but I sat this semester out because I knew I was having surgery. I substitute teach and I travel to see my family!

I am only 4 days post op.... although I thought I was prepared, in reality I had NO CLUE what to expect. I am trying to get the eating/drinking thing down.... I am hungry and have heartburn, I think! That is my story thus far...and I am stickin' to it!

Good Luck to you Tracy. I had my surgery on 9/12. The first couple of days were rough with the drinking, but 8 days postop I am feeling pretty good. My doctor has me on a full liquid diet for 3 weeks. I see him on monday, so I really don't know what the next phase will be. So far I am very happy with the decision I have made. I started out 5'5 218.9, as of this morning I weighed 206.2! Yeah, I am so excited to finally get the show on the road. My husband is also very supportive. Take good care of yourself, and congratulations on your new journey!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
