Target amount of Carbs, Fat, Protein?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering for those of you who track their calories and such. What is your target amount of Protein, Carbs and Fat?

I have been looking at my Fitday pie chart and I know its not where I want fat is the highest and Protein the lowest but I was wondering how many grams of each people are shooting for?

My calories range from 900-1300 or so. Sometimes I go under (like 700-800) and sometimes over (up to 1500) but overall it's within the range.

My carbs are always very high, like 50-90 grams, but I eat a lot of soy products which have higher carbs that meat Proteins. I seem to be fine.

My Fiber ranges from 8-12 a day.

I try to get to 60 grams of Protein, and am able to do that pretty easily by eating Protein first at every meal.

Fat is always high, and I really don't know why since I keep to low fat foods only! I have been having some avocado, salmon or olive oil, which I consider "good" fats, but still increases the fat intake.

I keep track of it all on calorieking.com and am super happy with that website. I love calorieking because it organizes a lot of data for you. It organized my last two weeks and gave me my daily averages and breakdowns for two weeks.

calories: 922

fat: 39

carbs: 75

protein: 67

fiber: 9

it also includes averages of Calcium, sodium, Iron, etc.

My Dr. says for Women about ~

  • 50-90 grams a day for Protein
  • 60 Grams a day or less of Carbs
  • 30 Grams or less a day for Fats

I'm trying to stay at 1000 calories per day

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
